Visiting Nurse Association of Southwestern Indiana, Inc. (VNA) was founded in 1888 when a small group of area women recognized a need to visit the sick in their homes.
After 14 years of service to the Evansville community, the group hired the state's first home care nurse, Miss Lydia Metz. Lydia brought her own special mix of professional training and personal dedication to the many patients she visited that first year. She became a model for all VNA staff members who work to bring that same special combination of training, technology and dedication to caring for our patients.
Today, the scope of VNA services has grown to encompass southwestern Indiana, southeastern Illinois, and western Kentucky.
